The complete refurbishment of one of the oldest buildings in St Peter Port demanded flexible thinking incorporating heat reclaim and heat pump technology available on the market.
The age of the building and challenges faced by the team working in such an historic and protected building presented them with significant challenges, not least of all how to create a suitable environment for a retail outlet, that did not cost a fortune to operate and run.
Jersey Energy approached the solution by reclaiming the rejected heat from cold rooms and display cases, and then upgrading this heat to provide underfloor heating to the space. The majority of the store heating is now via reclaimed heat alongside the air to water heat pumps employed to upgrade the heat for reuse, saving energy and significantly reducing the CICS’s emissions.
